North Hadley Sugar Shack
When Joe Boisvert was ten years old, he and his older brother John began working on their parents' farm. They tapped trees, boiled the sap, and learned how to produce maple syrup.
Joe and his wife Shelly run the Sugar Shack and North Hadley Market. In operation for over 20 years, they offer maple syrup production tours during sugaring season and operate "The Farm Tale" from May to October with family activities. Seasonal events include Harvest Pumpkin Festival and Tractor Parade.
Their maple syrup is gluten free, allergen free, fat free, and rich in manganese, zinc, riboflavin, magnesium, calcium and potassium. They practice environmentally conscious methods including a new machine to recapture black smoke from wood burning and drilling smaller holes in maple trees for faster healing.
